Original shots. I thought I would take the textures or the actual object and incorporate them in the backgrounds. I thought perhaps I could take a permanent marker to them after collage-ing the different  cutout parts to create a scene. It would be cutout photos put together to create a reality. However... then I tried to do it.

I cut out certain portions of some of my photos and attempted to put them together...

This one is just all of the photos lined up together and blended so that the differences between the different parts are not blaringly obvious.

This is the vectorized version of the castle. Ideally, I wanted a really cool, blocky image to use. I was hoping that, when vectorized, it would appear more cartoony-y and I would be able to work from there. Not so.

After meeting with one of the computer science girls on Sunday, I started redo-ing my sketches, which I will scan and upload to here later. Basically, they added a lot more sprites and several more levels. The amount of work we has to do had increased dramatically, so I started playing with different ideas of simpler and more easily constructed styles. One idea that I came up with and kind of ran with was the idea of just black and white sketches. I thought that the simplicity would create a stark contrast in light of the complexity around us, while minimalizing the amount of work we needed to do and decide on. In my mind, I pictured Elizabeth's sketches, with a bit of a white outline, running around on my sketches. The effect was very picture book/ collage - esque.

One of my sources of inspiration...

I have several original sketches to post and then more recently ones (which will likely actually continue to the final product) and some after meeting with the group and Elizabeth all together....
So! More later...
